Our 44th Annual AVS 5k Run, the oldest professional Society run on our planet, will be held with our AVS 72nd International Symposium & Exhibition in Charlotte, North Carolina. With your entry fee, you will receive a run t-shirt, race number, and awards.
The race will be held on Wednesday morning at a time that will allow runners to make the first sessions. Stop by the race registration booth by Tuesday, November 10th, to pick up your t-shirt and number, a map of the course, and find organizational details for Wednesday morning. The awards ceremony will be held at the Run registration area on Wednesday at noon.
Don’t forget to put together a team to compete in our CORPORATE RACE and DIVISIONS AND GROUPS RACE. Each team representing a corporate entity (university, unemployed, research organization, manufacturer, etc.) or Division/Group must have at least 3 team members to qualify.
Times are handicapped by age and sex. To enter your team, please email your roster, team name, and affiliation to the Race Director (bridget_rogers@avs.org) before noon on Tuesday, November 10, 2026. Please make sure each team member has registered for the race.
Please note that we assign T-shirts in the order in which race registrations are received. Those who register before September 10, 2026, are guaranteed to receive their desired size, so please register ASAP!
Due to limited options in Pittsburgh, our 5k Run course will require that you cross some residential streets, and these streets will not be closed for the event, so runners are expected to proceed with utmost caution and remain within the crosswalk while crossing.
